ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your blessings with us! Our old house had an asparagus patch and I miss it lots! It had been there when we bought the house. Would appreciate a blog on how you started (and maintain!) yours!
ReplyDeleteDare I admit that I had no idea what asparagus looks like growing!? I was ...surprised. =D
ReplyDeletegiggle Carrie, it looks just like the stalks in the produce section. But these are oh, so much better!!
ReplyDeleteLaura, one of our patches was here when we moved here. One thing we do it pour salt water (when we make homemade ice cream) on the patch because I guess it's a kind of seaweed. When we started our new patch, we bought and planted the roots in the spring and didn't do anything with them all summer (no harvesting). Then in the fall we put about 6 inches of manure to cover them, then harvest then lightly the next year. I don't know that we have any special tips, but that's what we did here! Hope it helps! ;)
love the pictures!
