My Backyard

We've seen a couple of cool things right in our backyard here recently. One evening after a rain we were privileged to witness not only a full rainbow, but a double rainbow.
It was gorgeous and inspired the entire family to stand outside admiring it and reviewing the promise God gave Noah thousands of years ago.
It even inspired Destry to climb up on the roof (hey, a 13-year-old boy jumps at any opportunity, right?!) and take some pictures. I rather enjoyed this bird's eye view of our farm. Above is the view to the southeast, below is the view due east.
The picture below looks to the northwest from the roof of our house.
Then another evening as we were eating supper Kiana excitedly said "Hey! What's that?!" Right out our dining room window we saw a hot air balloon lazily floating along in the sky. (Destry captured this shot as well--I think it's really cool the way the balloon is contrasted against the blue sky between the full green trees). Our delicious supper (rotisserie chicken, homemade breadsticks with fresh pesto, carrots and lettuce) was temporarily abandoned as we all headed out to the deck to watch it. It looked so relaxing to drift along with the air currents on such a beautiful evening. The kids were hopeful it would land in our pasture, but of course it didn't.

What fun memories of dropping everything to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of a moment.
