Easton is Three!

*some of my photos aren't uploading right now, so I'll check back in a little bit to try again* Have you ever had one of those moments when you were so glad you did something the way you did it? Well, I am ever so grateful we celebrated Easton's birthday a week before the actual day of May 8. This little guy has been so sick! He had the horrible flu, starting at 3 am Wednesday and so far, the last episode was at 11 pm Saturday. What a way to spend a birthday, hmmm? But fortunately, he had his little buddies over a week early for a zoo animal party. We made tiger and monkey cupcakes and put one of the monkeys in a cake 'cage'. He was tickled with the cake. He is such a sweetheart, it's fun to do special things for him. I don't think I've ever had a party for one of my three-year-old children before, but he has been SO excited for his birthday, and he has the best little friends. . .I just couldn't resist spending time with these little guys. They dressed up as lions and tigers and giraffes (oh my!) Kiana tagged along with big brother and his friends, and Briana helped. The first project was making lions out of paper plates and construction paper. Scissors and glue are lots of fun for three-year-olds! Easton was happy with his lion and got a high five for a job well done. Next it was time to sing Happy Birthday and blow out the candles. Everyone got to have a cupcake with a candle in it to blow out at the appropriate time. How fun is that?! Kiana was right in there with the big boys. After eating their cakes, Easton opened his presents and delivered a bag of goodies to each of his friends. It's amazing to me how excited little boys can be with a ball, a car, a water gun, and a couple little plastic animals. Daddy was in charge of balloon games. While I, in my limited (female?) imagination, was initially less than thrilled with the 'kick the balloons' game, the boys thought it was grand fun. They ran around like crazy people kicking and giggling. Next they tried to pop balloons by sitting on them. While Daddy had enough weight to accomplish it, these little guys had to have someone sneak up behind them with a pin while they sat on their balloons--but they thought they did it on their own and were thrilled. I think their favorite part was when the structured party time was over and they got to play 'at the park' for the last 20 minutes. Here is Zayne, son of my friend Misti (featured in an earlier post as a new mommy of Nevaeh). He was two in January, and was the youngest of the boys. Next we have Mundan, son of our friends James and Shela, who is the same little boy I featured in an earlier post on the trampoline with Easton. He will be three in September. And finally, here is my agile little nephew and Easton's cousin and buddy, Nathan, son of Sheldon and Marcy. He turned three exactly one month before Easton. They were really a great group of little boys. I can just imagine the fun they'll have (and trouble they'll get into!) in years to come. Alan took Easton and Nathan with him as they drove Mundan home. He said they jabbered the whole way. Can't you just imagine?!
