We had fun celebrating Kiana's first birthday with family this evening. We combined it with cousin Adi's third birthday party. I just can't resist sharing a few pictures because it was so fun. She really loved her cake. No, I mean REALLY loved her cake! What a mess! She went after it with both hands (sorry for the blur, she was in constant motion the entire time--even to the point of spontaneously clapping her hands in excitement--yes, look at her hands again and imagine that one!) I think she was afraid we might realize at any moment that she had been given free rein with this beautiful, sweet, delicious treat and it would be taken away, so she'd better enjoy it while it lasted. Below, see the cake before (as she sat mesmerized by the 'hot' candle. . .) and after Kiana happened! She was quite happy and busy after this exciting experience. She ate a lot of it, but there was also a lot on her hands, face, clothes, feet (?!), high chair, floor. . . .Are we a strange family, or does everyone give their one-year-old a cake to play in??? And my niece, Adi, was an absolute RIOT with the little purse of various lip glosses she received as a gift. Fortunately for Grandma, Adi was more than glad to share her cosmetic expertise. Aren't they just bootiful??!!
