Well, history has a way of repeating itself, you know! I remember my mom getting so irritated with me as she had apparently called me multiple times to do dishes or fold laundry or some other such tedious chore. How was I supposed to hear her when I was weeping over Beth's death or cheering Old Dan and Little Ann after the coon or giggling over Huckleberry dressed up like a girl catching yarn. . .Can anyone relate??!! Now it's Briana's turn! This is her idea of baking cookies for our recent fellowship meal! I just had to laugh when I walked into the kitchen and saw her. I'm having so much fun re-living these stories with her! She couldn't leave Laura and Mary alone to go bake cookies, so read for 10 minutes at a time. No, none of the cookies were burned. And in case you're thinking it, I imagine I would have burned them had I tried this--I really shut the whole world out when reading! I just can't complain when she pulls the same old tricks I did. I'm working on two of the other children: I think it's a success so far! I'm really having a blast with Destry--notice he's reading Tom Sawyer in this pic. Now he's on to the unabridged Huck Finn (he already read the abridged, enjoyed it so much he decided to read it 'again'). Sometimes I steal their books while they're sleeping so I can go back and read them again! I just can't begin to describe the joy I feel sharing the memories with them. I love being a mom!
