Today He's Two!

Friday, May 09, 2008

I can't believe Easton is two today! That time has just flown right by! I can't tell you how many times today we've sung "Happy Birthday to You" and he's just sure that after we sing it to Easton, we have to sing it to others--particularly Daddy! He's also great at replying "TWO" when anyone asks him how old he is, but he gets distracted trying to make his fingers agree with his mouth! I could teach him to use his first finger and thumb, but I personally find it cute watching him concentrate to get those first two fingers to cooperate! We had lots of fun playing at the park to celebrate today!

He loved swinging, and he loved playing on the totally cool equipment. I thought he was awfully cute, and enjoyed getting a few shots sans the cheesy smile!

He was awfully brave and just sure he could tackle the big, curvy slide like big brother. Of course he could!!!

I think it was a happy and fun-filled day for a brand new two year old. Before the park, we went to Walmart to get the 2-yr.old photos taken, and he just acted like a little model. I was so proud of him! The lady was trying to hurry and bribe and cajole and such, and I finally just asked her what she wanted him to do, then told him what she wanted and illustrated. When he cooperated, she got a little carried away and had him praying, tucking his hand against his cheek, laying on his tummy crossing his feet in the air at the ankles, etc. She said she had never seen a 2-yr old she could just expect to do as she asked! (sort of a sad statement on our society, is it not?!) It was bad for my wallet. . .oops! But it was a nice 'pat on the back for mommy' moment. Sort of scares me to think what tomorrow will be like! Why does a good/compliment sort of day always seem to be followed by a testing day? Perhaps to keep us humble. . .

Anyway, I FINALLY got a real smile out of him today--sometimes he's a little TOO cooperative with the fake smile instead of giving a real one! He was being ornery/silly and got in Kiana's walker, which he had never even tried before. I was just being silly with him, not yet decided if it was okay or not, and asked in a silly voice "What are you doing in the baby walker????!!!!" He rewarded my indecision with this priceless grin--and I just happened to have the camera at the ready! What a cute and precious little boy!!! See why I like this grin better than the fake CHEESE!!!!!!
